Who We Are:

Space Kinetic is a cleared, venture-backed startup focused on addressing urgent national security priorities. Our goal is to deliver a suite of asymmetric capabilities for space superiority and missile defense leveraging our proprietary electromechanical deployment system, which enables the rapid deployment of low-cost payloads through space without firing a thruster. Space Kinetic is currently assembling its TRL-5 prototype. Our goal is to leverage this platform to provide the United States with a new tool for securing the space domain & catalyzing the emerging space economy.

What You’ll Do:

Space Kinetic is seeking a hands-on 3D Printing Systems Technician with experience in space systems or aerospace to operate and maintain 3D printing equipment and help develop our internal prototyping capabilities. This part time role will involve handling requests from engineers to fabricate parts while providing DFAM feedback and guidance for material and process selection. Both one-off parts and small-volume production are common, primarily in resin-based materials using either DLP processes. The 3D Print Lab Technician / CAD Technician is also expected to maintain relationships with 3D printing service bureaus to advise engineers when outsourcing printed parts.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working from engineering documentation, and experienced in prototype builds and structured test execution. This is a part time, hourly position with a maximum of 10 hours weekly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proficiently set up, operate, and maintain DLP and FFF 3D printing equipment
  • Stock appropriate materials and maintenance parts
  • Inspect print request files (STLs) for printability and geometric errors
  • Coordinate scheduling of print requests to ensure timely delivery of parts
  • Provide DFAM feedback and material/process guidance to engineers prior to printing components
  • Collect part performance feedback after printing components
  • Maintain relationships with external printing services and understand their general prototyping capabilities
  • Set expectations with engineers, deliver parts within the expected timeframe, and follow up on part performance
  • Comfortable working part time and on a as needed basis

What It Takes:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience working as a Print Systems Technician is required but experience in the Space industry is a plus
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • 1+ years of Stratasys polyjet systems experience of any variety
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and data analysis tools is desirable.
  • Understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and aerospace regulations (e.g., FAA, EASA) is a plus

The annual base salary for this role is below. Pay Grades are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: interviews and an assessment of several factors that are unique to each candidate, job-related skills, relevant education/experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and internal equity.
