Role Overview

The Project Coordinator serves as a key liaison between the Program Management Office (PMO), production, and cross-functional teams, supporting the full lifecycle of complex aerospace and thermal protection system programs. This role is responsible for driving execution by identifying and resolving bottlenecks, expediting work across departments, and ensuring alignment between technical milestones and on-time delivery.

Working closely with both shop-floor personnel and multidisciplinary teams, the Project Coordinator tracks high-volume manufacturing activities, maintains accurate data within ERP systems and customer portals, and provides data-driven insights to ensure alignment between production status, program timelines, and delivery commitments

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to track program goals and timelines from concept through production.
  • Monitor internal department progress to identify execution delays and alert leadership to help maintain cost and schedule adherence.

  • Actively expedite jobs through the shop floor and work centers to ensure tasks stay on track and meet scheduled deadlines.

  • Serve as a bridge between the Program Management Office and Production to collect real-time updates and accurate recovery dates.

  • Help identify and track program risks, supporting the implementation of contingency plans to maintain performance.

  • Update and maintain project management tools to provide visibility on key milestones, backlogs, and resource status.

  • Perform regular data entry and audits in the ERP system to ensure system milestones and delivery dates match actual production status.

  • Support the preparation of dashboards, KPIs, and performance metrics for internal review to help illustrate program health.

  • Assist in updating customer portals to support on-time delivery tracking and document reasons for potential delays.

  • Clearly communicate program status and technical updates to internal stakeholders and suppliers as directed.

  • Complete customer Open Order Reports (OOR) and ensure all program documentation meets submission timelines.

  • Travel to customer sites or partner locations as needed to support onsite execution and integration activities.

Required Qualifications

    • Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience including relevant certifications in an aerospace or defense manufacturing environment.

    • 3+ years of direct experience in project management, production planning, or technical coordination within the aerospace, defense, or advanced materials industries.

    • Direct experience working with ERP systems and customer portals to ensure system data, milestones, and delivery dates align with actual shop floor production status.

    • Demonstrated experience tracking KPIs and job backlogs, with the ability to support the development of schedule recovery plans in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

    • Strong organizational skills with a focus on follow-through, specifically in managing unreleased/hold lists and coordinating the movement of jobs through Manufacturing, Quality, and Materials.

    • Effective communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners without direct authority.

    • Experience acting as a liaison between departments, translating feedback into actionable tasks and communicating technical concepts clearly to internal stakeholders.

    • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and drive technical tasks from concept through final delivery in a high-intensity environment.

    • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance (Secret or higher), including meeting all background check and eligibility requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Technical familiarity with complex aerospace systems, such as launch vehicles, missile systems, thermal protection systems (TPS), or composite materials.

    • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and machinery as related to metallic, non-metallic, composites materials as it relates program performance and scheduling.

    • Familiarity with surface coating, painting, bonding and other finish processes as it is related to TPS impacting program performance and scheduling.

    • Subject matter expertise or technical understanding of manufacturing processes for metallics, superalloys, composites, or ceramics used in high-heat aerospace applications.

    • PMP or similar project management certification is considered a plus.

    • Background in customer-facing roles, with the ability to maintain organized communication and support complex partner relationships.

    • Demonstrated success in supporting the transition-to-production, specifically helping move material designs from the R&D phase into a manufacturing environment.

    • Willingness to travel to customer sites, test facilities, or partner locations as required to support program integration and execution activities.

    • Active U.S. Security Clearance (Secret or higher) is strongly preferred.

Additional Requirements

    • Ability to work in office, lab, and manufacturing environments with occasional exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.

    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 lb and perform tasks involving standing, walking, bending, and manual assembly.

    • Visual acuity required for reading technical drawings, inspecting components, and operating precision instruments.

    • Occasional travel to customer or test sites, including outdoor or industrial settings, with adherence to company and OSHA safety protocols.
