Hera Technologies is a premier contract manufacturer specializing in high-precision metallic and non-metallic solutions for the Aerospace, Defense, and Space sectors. Our commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction has positioned us as an industry leader in the design, manufacturing and maintenance of thermal support systems. Our team is driven by excellence, integrity, and a passion for advancing aerospace technology.
Take the next step in your career with a company committed to excellence, where your contributions are recognized, and your potential is realized.
The Quality Specialist Soft Goods role is responsible for ensuring textile-based aerospace assemblies meet all engineering, customer, and regulatory requirements throughout production and at final release. This role focuses specifically on soft goods such as insulation blankets, thermal barriers, sewn assemblies, protective covers, and composite-backed fabric systems. The position safeguards product integrity by inspecting workmanship, dimensional accuracy, material traceability, and compliance to drawings and specifications, while maintaining accurate records within our ERP system.
This role is not limited to inspection. You will function as a quality specialist embedded with production and quality engineering, driving issue resolution, supporting root cause analysis, and protecting product integrity before shipment. You will work directly with sewn assemblies, thermal blankets, insulation systems, composite-backed fabrics, and other soft goods critical to aerospace applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process and final inspections of aerospace soft goods and textile assemblies.
  • Verify compliance to engineering drawings, specifications, customer flow-downs, and workmanship standards.
  • Inspect stitching quality, seam integrity, edge finishing, hardware installation, bonding, labeling, and overall configuration accuracy.
  • Confirm dimensional requirements, material types, thread specifications, and special process compliance.
  • Identify defects related to fabric damage, foreign object inclusion, improper assembly, cosmetic concerns, and structural nonconformities.
  • Generate and process Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and support MRB review and disposition activities.
  • Partner with Quality Engineering on root cause analysis, corrective actions, and containment plans.
  • Support implementation of preventive actions to reduce repeat defects and rework.
  • Assist in reviewing travelers, inspection plans, and quality documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support internal audits, customer audits, and compliance to AS9100 requirements.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and product traceability within the ERP/QMS system.
  • Act as a quality presence on the production floor, reinforcing standards and driving accountability.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Direct experience inspecting or building aerospace soft goods, sewn assemblies, insulation blankets, or technical textile products.
  • Strong understanding of textile workmanship criteria for aerospace applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, revisions, tolerances, and specification requirements.
  • Working knowledge of NCR processes, MRB workflows, and corrective action practices.
  • Ability to support root cause analysis and collaborate with engineering and production teams.
  • Experience entering and maintaining records in ERP/QMS systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or space manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Experience reviewing special process documentation, certifications, and configuration control records.
  • Familiarity with JobBOSS or Epicor ERP systems.
  • Experience supporting internal or external audits.
  • Exposure to FOD prevention practices in textile assembly environments.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends when needed to meet critical deadlines
  • Willingness to travel to customers’ locations or other Hera sites as needed
  • Ability to use a computer and most common software programs to complete assignments
  • Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and online
